Pre-treatment

Discontinue blood thinning agents and supplements such as Ginko, Garlic, Flax, Cod Liver Oil and Multivitamins 3 day before your session. These can be re-started 3 days after your PRP session.
Avoid Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Naproxen and Voltarol and any other anti-inflammatory medications 24 hours prior
Avoid any alcohol/smoking if possible 24 hours prior

The morning of your Treatment:

Please shower and rinse your hair, the morning of your treatment.
Do not spray any kind of gels, hair sprays or other styling products on your hair.
Eat as normal the morning of your PRP.
Aim to drink at least 500ml of water before your procedure.

Post-treatment

Resume shampoo 24 hours after treatment but can rinse hair with water 6 hours after.
Avoid any alcohol/smoking for at least 24 hours after treatment.
Avoid any kind of strenuous exercise including the Gym, Sauna, Steam room, Swimming and Jacuzzi for 2 days after treatment.
Avoid Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Naproxen and Voltarol and any other anti-inflammatory medications for 3 days after treatment

How long is the Procedure?

Usually takes around 1 hour

Does it hurt?

Premium numbing cream is used in combination with a massaging device to minimise pain. While pain thresholds differ from person to person, the procedure has been described often as causing mild discomfort only.

How Long does it take to work?

Takes 4 weeks initially to take an effect.

How often is treatment required?

A minimum of 4 loading treatments are required 1 month apart for optimal results.

How Long does treatment last?

Lasts up to 6-12 months after 4 loading treatments are completed.

Maintenance is every 3-6 months for peak results, to maintain healthy, thicker and noticeably denser looking hair.

Side effects?

Takes 48 hours – post treatment for recovery from scalp redness and tenderness to disappear.

Is there any downtime?

24-48 hrs downtime with Post Care. Can return to work/daily activities same day.

The money that you pay is completely valid, you’re getting a qualified Pharmacist with years of experience as well as additional things to help with the hair growth.

The procedure is known to be a fairly uncomfortable experience, but I can say out of the other places I have been to that this is by far the most pain free.

I had my first PRP appointment today with the lovely Viraj, at  - THE PRP LOUNGE -HAIR & SKIN TREATMENT BIRMINGHAM,
and I can honestly say it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had.

From start to finish, Viraj was extremely knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely caring. He explained everything clearly, made me feel completely at ease, and the whole appointment was carried out so professionally. I was so impressed that I’ve already booked my next session, and I’ll be booking a further 4 appointments to complete a full 6-month process.

During my 1-hour appointment, I had the following treatments:

• PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma):
This involves taking a small sample of your blood, processing it to extract growth-factor-rich plasma, and injecting it into the scalp to stimulate hair follicles, improve thickness, and encourage natural regrowth.

• Microneedling:
This creates tiny controlled micro-channels in the scalp to boost blood flow and significantly improve the absorption and effectiveness of the PRP and biotin. It also helps to “wake up” dormant hair follicles.

• Biotin:
A key vitamin for hair strength and growth, helping support healthier, stronger hair and reducing breakage.

• DHT Blocker:
DHT is a hormone linked to hair thinning and hair loss. A DHT blocker helps protect hair follicles, slow down hair loss, and support long-term results.

I genuinely feel you would struggle to find all of the above included at the price I paid today, and it’s reassuring to know that all products used are authentic and high quality.

Viraj is also such a lovely, down-to-earth person, which made the entire experience even better. I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of pain during the procedure, especially compared to other places I’ve been where it was absolutely unbearable.

Overall, I am incredibly pleased with how today’s appointment went and I’m already looking forward to my next one.

I cannot recommend Viraj highly enough — he is truly the best.
